create. A land of night blooming heather. In this installation, there are films, sound works, sculpture, photography, ceramics, the written word, and scent. Together, all these elements combine to immerse audiences in a black-and-white world of duality, ritual, storytelling, and dreams. Each individual work exists on its own while simultaneously functioning as a building block to this world, the one I inhabit within my mind, especially when interacting with the landscape. The characters featured are extensions of myself and display innocence, chaos, and power. They serve as gatherers and summoners, pulling from the land to connect to a higher being – transcending reality into a space of folklore and legend. The Stone Circle, titled Grind o’ da Drømmer, offers a gateway into my world of endless hills, dark skies, stones, and dreams. Stepping into the centre, my audience is transported into the landscape with me. Bracing the winds and rain, welcoming all the elements that shape the land. Made from wood, wire, plaster, sand, and matte vinyl photographic prints, the series of five stones reflects the surreal nature of my world and invites viewers to step inside.The land is filled with stories, a place of contemplation, recollection, and play. To stand within the mystical scene is to be recalibrated, returning to one's true self. An inner tranquillity metamorphoses the entire being. The secrets told and uncovered here are only heard by the stones. Energy moves through the earth and resonates at these sites, and can be gathered and carried elsewhere. Land surrounded by spirits and beings not quite from this realm, summoned here by ancient and powerful rituals. Time slows down until it becomes non-existent. Only the forceful winds and sweet scent of heather matter in these moments. Night and day become one. Beneath the gods, the stone circles stand as sentinels of foregone ages. Each stone sings, a vibration older than language, connecting earth, body, and spirit. The wild, barren landscapes stretch beyond sight and offer a comforting embrace to those lone figures who drift through. Here, boundaries dissipate - between sky and soil, between self and all that has ever been. The heart sedates, matching the pulse of theland. be shaped by landscape, heritage, and folklore. This body of work was the result of questioning why there was a desire to centre identity-focussed work in landscapes, particularly with bodies of water, while living in an urban environment. Roots run deep, and the landscapes of one’s home can often break through.
